First, structural design

Shell protection

Some smoke alarms have a double shell design. Seal design

At the joint of the shell, sealing measures such as sealing rubber rings are used. This is like many waterproof equipment, sealing rubber rings can fill the gap between the housing interface to prevent water infiltration.

For some interface parts, such as power interface, signal transmission interface, etc., special sealing plug or sealing interface design is used to ensure that water will not enter the alarm from these parts.


Second, material selection

Housing material

Choose materials with good waterproof performance to make the shell, such as some polymer materials, which have lower water absorption and better moisture resistance, and can effectively block the intrusion of water.

The shell of some smoke alarms may be made of materials with a waterproof coating, which can further enhance the waterproof ability of the shell, just like putting on a waterproof "coat" to the shell.

Third, drainage design

Some waterproof smoke alarms are provided with a number of water leakage holes at the bottom of the waterproof shell, and the water leakage hole and the bottom of the cavity are conductive. When a small amount of water enters, the water can be discharged through these drainage holes to avoid the accumulation of water in the alarm and cause damage.

Fourth, auxiliary protection

In some smoke alarm designs, an absorbent layer is set up. For example, a water-absorbing layer is arranged on the side of the waterproof sleeve away from the alarm shell, and the water-absorbing layer extends to the soft strip and the anti-collision block. This water-absorbing layer can be made of water-absorbing cotton, which can absorb a small amount of water that may penetrate into the water and prevent water from contacting the core components.
