The effect of temperature and humidity on computer systems

With the rapid development of computer technology, the quality as well as the reliability of computers have been greatly improved. However, because computers are affected by the component parts and various other factors, they have certain requirements for the temperature and humidity of the environment in which they are used while working.　

Not only does temperature have an effect on computer systems, but humidity also has, too high or too low, will directly affect the quality of the work of the computer system, and needs to attract the attention of the operator. In general, the computer system at work, requiring the use of the environment's optimal humidity range of 45% to 60%, while the maximum allowable range should not exceed 35% to 80%.

If the humidity is too high, it will cause moisture to adhere to the surface of the computer components, so that the performance of the circuit within the machine is reduced, and even short-circuit and burn some parts. More serious is that the computer absorbs moisture into the air, it will lead to damage to the metal parts of the disk drive rust; printed circuit board insulation performance will also deteriorate. Excessive humidity will also affect the magnetic material, resulting in read and write errors; computer internal connectors and related contact parts will be too much humidity and leakage and poor contact. The appearance of these phenomena, are to affect the normal work of the computer system. Humidity is too low on the computer is also very serious. Low humidity is very easy to generate static electricity, not only will cause fire because of the generation of discharge phenomenon, but also easy to adsorb dust, resulting in computer wiring short circuit and disk read and write errors, and in serious cases will make the disk or head damage.　



To avoid and reduce the impact of humidity on the computer, the following measures can be taken.　

1. Reasonable choice of computer room location, try not to use the cottage and the ground floor of the building, and choose the relatively small humidity of the upper floor of the building room.　

2. The room where the computer is placed should have a hygrometer in order to keep track of the changes in humidity in the room.　

3. The place where the computer is placed, the conditions can be installed in the computer room humidity control equipment, such as dehumidifiers, humidifiers, etc.　

4. Encounter continuous humid and rainy weather, the long-term machine, you can open the cover with a blow dryer to blow some parts in turn for a while to accelerate the evaporation of humid air, to reduce the harm to the computer.
